Is she obsessed? Does she have no life? Or is she just a rabid fan who has found a subculture with which she fits in? Whatever your answer to these questions, one thing is clear, Becky Rosen is... unique. How many fans can say with utmost certainty that her fandom is not the brainchild of some genius author but is - in fact - real?! Raised in Columbia, Maryland, Rebecca 'Becky' Rosen was born to a middle-class Jewish family. An only child - with an allergy to cats - Becky grew up a child of the 1990s - the age of the Internet. An awkward child, Becky had problems making friends and by the time she'd gotten to middle school had found solice in worlds of fantasy. Becky was an okay student, nothing special, she spent her time split between school work and online interaction. By the time she reached high school she was already immersed in fandom culture - having discovered anime and of course Harry Potter. During Freshman year of high school, Becky met Maria Wymar. The two became fast friends and Becky pulled away from her life as a computer and fandom junkie. She became a member of the school swimteam and her writing was published in the school's arts publication. Unfortunately the friendship didn't last after graduation - Maria left the state to attend college in Minnesota, leaving Becky on her own. Accepted by the University of Baltimore as a creative writing student, Becky moved out of her parents house the summer after graduation. College life seemed to suit her fine and she had a roommate and everything was going well until a classmate introduced her to the Carver Edlund's series Supernatural. From day one she was hooked. Finding herself a Sam Girl at heart, every book which came out she would tear through before jumping online to debate the details with other fans on the message boards and chatrooms. She eventually found herself writing fanfiction, things that Edlund hadn't added - things she thought should be added, Becky even started a website dedicated to the brothers in... various "pursuits." A Wincester, as she posted her work Becky realized she was getting a following. And so she wrote. And wrote. The cancelation of the series didn't stop either the fans or the fic writers - it allowed them creative license to continue where Edlund had left off. And Becky did - becoming an underground sensation in the Wincest community. She wrote letters to Edlund pleading with him to start writing again - as did many - but he (or she) never answered... until one day when a Tele-Call changed her life forever. Getting a call from your idol is something that happens to very few, getting a tele-call in the middle of the day from your idol telling you he needs your help is something out of a fangirl's wet dream. And yet it happened. With the rallying call Becky found herself leaving campus and driving two hours (with traffic) to Frederick, Maryland. Her mission? Give a message to the boys! THE BOYS! Everything was real! Everything she'd thought and known for four years was real! And her reaction to Sam (and Dean, if you want to pay attention to him) was of course professional... as professional as a fangirl meeting the object of her focus can be... The message of course made no sense to her, but it seemed to make sense to the boys... and of course she didn't want to leave but.. .well she didn't really have much of a choice. Not when they told her the fate of the world was at stake! Not when somehow she might be able to find a way to help... and maybe see them again - something she managed to do. Given financial constraints, Becky had dropped out of school prior to the first meeting with the Winchesters and taken a job in Baltimore. After the incident with the boys, Becky actually had a face to face meeting with Chuck and found that she was not overly impressed, but she liked the man. He wrote the books that were her crack. And he seemed pretty nice. And then came the First ever Supernatural Convention - an event Becky helped organize. Needless to say the Winchesters had to attend! Unfortunately the event was marred by the appearance of real ghost. By the end of the convention she had seen things in Chuck that she hadn't before... finding him - actually rather attractive. It was odd. But maybe he'd been there the whole time? Her infatuation with Sam lessened almost instantly (oddly enough) and she actually - for the first time in quite a long time - had a connection to someone that wasn't based (or originally based) in fiction... After the incidents with the boys and the convention she knew what she had to do! She was still writing her stories, it didn't matter. Not really, but now with Chuck? She had to be a bit more careful... she didn't really think that he appreciated her contribution to the series. Becky enrolled at Kansas State University - in their Creative Writing program. She has updated her website with the information from her time meeting them but unfortunately few believe her, they think it is another one of the stories... How wrong they are. If they only knew what was at stake... But it doesn't really matter. Her fans are clamouring for more, and don't you know it? Having met the boys? She's going to give it to them.
